  39. I have a Hustler CG-144 (I think the model number is right) and have
  40. been pretty pleased with the performance.  They claim a gain of 
  41. 5.7 or so.  It is quite a big antenna (about 2m) but it gets out 
  42. quite well and happens to use the same mount threading as my old 
  43. CB antenna so I didn't have to pay extra for a mount.  The whole 
  44. thing ran about $35 for the whole thing.  My only complaint is that
  45. I lost the top element on a 4WD trail in Utah so make sure the 
  46. set screws are tight before going off road.

  64. I currently have a G5RV up about 20 feet in my backyard and while
  65. it works fine for domestic work on 40 meters I would like to work
  66. more DX there. I have heard that the Butternuts and GAP antennas have
  67. low angles of radiation on 40 and 80 and so should be better for working
  68. DX. What are my fellow ham's impressions of these antennas? With the
  69. sunspots going south I could use all the help I can get for these low
  70. bands! 73!

  100. Dear Jeff,
  101.  I have a 5BTV which I'm very happy with- get to Europe on 40M
  102. any time I like (don't do much on 80 so don't know). A friend has a GAP
  103. and he has had trouble from the start - couldn't get it to tune and
  104. about 6months later wound up thwith water in the coax (he doesn't know
  105. if it's his fault or not yet).
